Angers hosts Nice for the 4th round of Ligue 1. Over the last 5-6 years Angers was finishing at the top of the Ligue 2 table, but kept failing to secure promotion to the top division. Until now. Angers features in the top flight of French football and they started quite confidently, by notching two wins (2-0 away at Montpellier, same score away against Gazelec Ajaccio) and a draw (0-0 at home vs Nantes) so far. Their last time in Ligue 1 dates back in the distant 1994. Besides Angers, the only unbeaten team this season so far is the defending champion PSG as well as Nantes.

Nice is leading the table for goals scored so far as they netted 6 in the opening 3 matches, but they conceded as many goals. They've lost to Monaco at home (1-2), got a hard fought draw (3-3) against Troyes and won at home (2-1) over Caen completing their comeback (trailing 0-1). Hatem Ben Arfa is their star player with an admirable career (Lyon, Marseille, Newcastle, Hull), currently enjoying his football at Nice and being in great shape (scored twice in the first 3 matches).

Angers will be missing several players: Mohni, Edelen, Traore, Auriak and Mote. The guests have even more problems though: Bodmer, Traore, Puplen Le Marchand, Raeriarimanan, Genevois, Hult, Gomis (doubtful). During the off-season, Angers signed Ismael Traore, Gilles Sunu and Thomas Mangani. Jonathan Kodjia joined Bristol City (for a reported fee around 2 million). Nice lost Amavi to Aston Villa (12M). They brought in Ben Harp, Germain, Le Marchand and Seri.

Over the past 15 years, the 2 teams have met only 3 times; each of them won once and 1 match ended with a tied score. Angers looks very good at the start of the season. Nice has a strong offensive line, but at the same time their defence is far from being solid. Chances are that the game ends in a home win and both contenders will be able to score. Nice is playing well and scoring a lot, but considering that they play away and missing plenty of key players, Footbe recommends to bet on a home win in this match.
